Whispers  on  the  Horizon
地平線上的低吟
born in 1988, Taiwan - lives and works in New York

For the Taipei Biennial 2025, Wu Chia-Yun created a rock garden installation with photographic works. With a background in film set design, she arranges the space like a movie scene, paying attention to detail, mood, and storytelling.
Artificial gardens and rocks have special meaning in the Qing Dynasty. Since the 17th century, Taiwanese ancestors who left southern China, longing for their homeland, have recreated Chinese-style gardens in their new environment. These gardens became a way to hold onto memory and identity. Over time, they evolved into a mix of feelings, traditions, and imagination.
Wu Chia-Yun tells emotional life stories through fiction films. She uses cinematic techniques to explore themes through moving images, mixed media, and photography.
