P. Staff
In Skeleton, P. filmed a human skeleton to explore questions of identity, memory, and our understanding of the body. The artist examines how systems of power control bodies—especially those of people who are often excluded or overlooked in society. The installation continues this investigation by reflecting on life and death, and on what it means to be seen or unseen.
Through slow, repeated images, the video rhythmically presents one human bone after another. As the skeleton fades in and out of focus, the artist reflects on how human concerns and longings do the same.
P. Staff works with video, sculpture, and poetry to examine how state and corporate power, technology, and laws, define and shape our social worlds and physical bodies—especially marginalized ones.
