Kiriakos Tompolidis
Nine paintings by Berlin-based artist Kiriakos Tompolidis depict self-portraits, scenes from domestic life, and everyday moments shaped by family and tradition. Displayed alongside replicas of ancient Greek vases, the works create a space that blends personal history with cultural references.
As the grandchild of Greek immigrants who came to Germany as guest workers in the 1960s, Tompolidis’ work reflects the feeling of being both a guest and a citizen—both Greek and German.
His paintings, explore themes such as language, religion, and personal memory, connecting three generations of family history shaped by migration and the experience of growing up between two cultures, while also addressing the artist’s own contemporary concerns as an individual.
