Whispers  on  the  Horizon
地平線上的低吟
born in 1970, La Spezia - lives and works in La Spezia

For the Taipei Biennial 2025, Jacopo Benassi created Flowers on Strike, an installation made from everyday objects found on site like museum furniture and artist books, wooden beams, straps— alongside photographs taken during his stay in Taipei and paintings inspired by works from the National Palace Museum.

Shaped like a fragmented barricade, the installation symbolizes personal and global conflict. The title imagines flowers that refuse to bloom, expressing feelings of uncertainty, distance, and emotional tension. These “unbloomed” flowers suggest pause or resistance—a quiet refusal to follow expectations.

Benassi began his artistic journey in the 1980s in underground music scenes, focusing on photography. His practice later expanded to include performances and painting, while preserving an intimate and physical sensibility.
