Whispers  on  the  Horizon
地平線上的低吟

Fuyuhiko Takata

born in 1987, Hiroshima - lives and works in Chiba

For the Taipei Biennial 2025, The Princess and the Magic Birds is presented as an intimate, dreamlike installation by Fuyuhiko Takata. Visitors enter through a spiraling corridor and can watch the film while lying on a circular bed mattress covering the floor. A sensual fairy tale is whispered into the ear of the sleeping protagonist. It draws viewers into a surreal world shaped by queerness, identity, and transformation. All voices and movements are performed by the artist himself, making the work deeply personal.
Takata uses a decorative and playful narrative style in which characters and genders shift fluidly. He explores gender and sexuality through storytelling that blends humor, fantasy, and emotion.
