Whispers  on  the  Horizon
地平線上的低吟
born in 1990, Poços de Caldas, Brazil - lives and works in São Paulo

Nothing is really beautiful but truth is a silk triptych by Fran Chang, inspired by her first visit to Taiwan in 2025 to meet her family and explore her cultural identity. Observing the landscape helped her reconnect with her roots and reflect on memories passed down by her Taiwanese mother.
Created especially for the Taipei Biennial 2025, where her story began, the work expresses the experience of living between cultures. It reflects a personal search for identity shaped by migration and cultural disconnection.

Through layered, fragmented images, Chang explores nature, silence, memory, and belonging. She brings together her Taiwanese heritage with a background in visual arts and astrophysics to create subtle, atmospheric compositions that speak to both personal history and place.

Nothing is really beautiful but truth, 2025, Acrylic on silk, Triptych, 90 x 70 x 3.5 cm each, Courtesy of the artist and Luisa Strina.
