By conservative estimate, over 300,000 women from mainland China and Southeast Asia have married into Taiwanese families - almost equal to the number of foreign laborers in Taiwan and the island's population of indigenous people. The attitude with which the Taiwanese government treats this group of female immigrants has always been ambiguous. This reflects a large number of obsolete laws regarding recognition of identity, restrictions on the right to work and other rights in society. One particular problem is the dramatically rising number of cross-border marriage agencies, which still exist in a gray area both in terms of the law and ethics.

This is a film on the growth of Taiwan's electronics industry, a story about two groups of people with diametrically opposite destinies During the 1970s, these two groups, because of personal choices and the accidents of history, met at the same American company, RCA But from that time on, their fates moved in completely different directions.
