Mieke GERRITZEN

Mieke Gerritzen was one of the first designers involved in the development of digital media in the early 1990s in the Netherlands. She makes designs for all media and works with many different designers, writers and artists. Her acclaimed publications include: "Catalogue of Strategy", "Everyone is a Designer", "Mobile Minded" and "Next Nature". Working in both old and new media, Gerritzen’s design is radical, idiosyncratic and eye-catching, with a strong sense of clarity and boldness. As a graphic designer, she successfully transformed print-based aesthetics into a compelling screen-based media, while keeping the basics of the discipline as line and colour.

Internationally renowned for her stance on political and social matters, Gerritzen is concerned with the consequences of new media and the different views on visual and natural culture that new networks offer us. Gerritzen runs the non-profit organisation All Media in partnership with Koert van Mensvoort. Through this organisation they conceive and produce print, products, events and films as a critical reflection on current topics in culture and in order to develop a form of communication through image.
