Liu Wei is an independent artist living and working in Beijing. In 1992 he graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, of China Central Academy of Drama and in 1995 completed his studies at the Symposium on the Relationship between Religion and Culture, hosted by the Philosophy Department of the Beijing University. Lui Wei has been engaged in the fields of video and photography for many years. His works are closely related to personal experience and memory, as well as the reality and rapidly changing history of contemporary China.
Lui Wei’s works have been exhibited at many art institutions internationally including at the Centre Pompidou, France; ZKM Center for Art and Media, Karlsruhe; The Guangdong Museum of Art, China; Nasher Museum of Art, U.S.; SESC Art Centre, Brazil; and The Centre of Contemporary Art Palau de la Virreina, Spain.
